Tammy Hall Quartet
Beautiful, Bluesy Jazz Piano
For over 15 years, pianist Tammy Hall has been one of the most in-demand musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area, thanks to her high-energy, gospel-tinged performing style and distinctive virtuosity.
Hall shines across a wide range of musical styles, from jazz to blues to Brazilian to salsa. Last year, Hall stepped forward with a new jazz CD, Blue Devine, and a live DVD, Reflections.
Jim Harrington of the Oakland Tribune said these releases, "give the rest of the country a chance to witness what local jazz lovers have been fortunate enough to enjoy for years."
Every Tuesday night in April, Bay Area music fans will have the chance to celebrate the talent and bravura of Tammy Hall at Jazz at Pearl's.
Pianist Tammy Hall grew up playing in church and was trained as a classical musician. Happily for jazz lovers, Hall was drawn to the excitement and spontaneity of improvisational music.
Hall began her jazz career in 1987 when she moved to Brussels and formed the band Touche Différente. She worked across Europe with this group and as a solo act, before moving to San Francisco in 1989. Since then, Hall's remarkable musical talents have been called for by a wide variety of local stars and international heavyweights, including David "Fathead" Newman, Houston Person, Denise Perrier, Little Jimmy Scott, and the great Etta Jones.
One more important point about Tammy Hall. She loves to play, and it shows!
