Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda) portrays real-life African-American radio host, Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene (1931-1984). He was a poor kid from the ghetto whose unrestrained on-air wit gave meaning to the phrase "tell it like it is." 'Talk to Me' was his signature on-air invite to his listeners for an exchange of thought and feeling. An ex-con trained in prison radio, Petey used the media to deliver mordant humor, but more significantly, he gave the airwaves over to his predominantly Black audience, most of them living in the segregated sections of Washington, DC.
