Arthur Phillips’ national best-selling first novel, Prague, was translated into more than twelve languages and was named a Notable Book of the Year by the New York Times. His subsequent novels, The Egyptologist and Angelica, have graced bestseller lists around the world. Heralded as “one of the best writers in America” by the Washington Post, Phillips was born in Minneapolis, educated at Harvard, and now lives in New York. His fourth novel, The Song Is You, follows the relationship between music enthusiast Julian Donahue and a rising young Irish singer, Cait O'Dwyer. Called a “triumphant return” by Publishers Weekly, this work explores the power of music, its affect on performers and audiences, and how it informs our sense of self and place in the world.
Arthur will be accompanied by Chan Poling (from the band the New Standards and formerly of the Suburbs) on piano. Steve Seel (host from the Current) will moderate this rocking literary-musical program.
