Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad in collaboration with Birdwatchers Society of Andhra Pradesh presents, Talk - Butterflies : their need for conservation
This months, butterfly expert Dr. Shetty Tejkumar presents the fascinating world of butterflies.
Dr. Shetty Tejkumar, Entomologist Professor (Ret.) at the Agricultural University of Hyderabad (ANGRAU), is Founder Secretary of the Bridwatchers Society of Andhra Pradesh and Founder Secretary of the Society for Nature Conservation. In 1995 he founded the Butterfly Conservation Society, of which he is President. In August 2007 he organized the Butterfly All India Meet, where 109 species of butterflies were identified.
Currently, Dr. Tejkumar has a checklist of 200 species of butterflies. He is working on a book Butterflies of Andhra Pradesh. Professor Tejkumar has taught lessons on butterflies on TV, and has been well covered by relevant newspapers such as The Hindu and the Deccan Chronicle.
His aim is to protect the habitat of, and educate people on butterflies.
