The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center invites dogs on leashes and their owners to an afternoon of fun, refreshments, and a hike to explore the trails Saturday, June 5 from 2-5 p.m. to celebrate the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day®. Wear costumes for a chance to win one of three prizes! Pooches and their human pals can pick up their water, doggie bag and treat before heading out for a strut, stroll and sniff on an Arboretum trail that winds through the forest, pas a pond (no swimming please!) and back to the party for more refreshments provided by Freebirds World Burrito and Smart Water®, music and door prizes. At 3:30 a dog trick contest will begin and at 3:45 the costume contest will start. Door prizes will be awarded once each hour, three will go to the best costumes, and three to the best dog tricks. Admission (includes one dog with owner) is $15 for Arboretum members, $20 for non-members; each additional guest/dog is $5. Kids 17 and under with a parent may enter for free.
