Be transported to this ancient and beautiful land by two of Australia’s most respected community choirs – the mixed voices of the Sydney Welsh Choir and rich, deep tones of the all-male Victoria Welsh Choir. They come together in DYRCHAFI EICH YSBRYDAU (ELEVATE YOUR SPIRITS) for one performance only at Riverside Theatres on Sunday 2 November at 3.00pm.
The combination of more than 120 voices will thrill the audience with Welsh hymns, songs and ballads as well as arias, spirituals and folk tunes. With such exuberance, audience members will leave with a smile on their faces and a glow in their hearts.
The Sydney Welsh Choir, with more than 70 men and women drawn from all parts of the Sydney area, puts the Wales into New South Wales. The choir has sung at all the main performance venues in Sydney as well as such famous venues overseas as York Minster, Canterbury and Winchester Cathedrals in England, the American National Cathedral in the USA, The Madeleine in Paris and Assisi Basilica in Italy.
The Victoria Welsh Choir has attracted its audiences with a growing number of innovative theme concerts such as Sing a Song of Britain, Men of Harlech, Australians All, and Showtime. An exciting presentation from the Choir to complement the classic movie How Green Was My Valley has packed out the historic Astor Theatre with 1,200 enthusiastic patrons, while "Celts, Kilts & Jazz" has proven to be a winner.
