It will be interesting to hear what Melinda has to say about her pre- City Council activist activities to compare with her involvement on the CC.
I am also eager to see Biker Dave's computer demo of how we as SV citizens can improve our participation in city planning. I caught a glimpse of the program when we went to see Mayor Spitaleri a few weeks ago.
Should be an exciting evening. Do bring goodies to share with your neighbors at the meeting. It makes the evening more enticing with treats.

We expect this general meeting to be informative, relevant and thought-provoking. First we will have Vice-Mayor Melinda Hamilton, who was formerly well known as a community activist with respect to the new Downtown, will discuss her experiences as a community activist and the differences between being an activist and being an elected official - including an analysis by the Vice-Mayor on the differences in the skills sets needed. Given the importance of the New Downtown to the city of Sunnyvale in so many ways, including but not exclusively the traffic both on Mathilda and the nearby areas, Vice-Mayor Hamilton's experiences in the development of the New Downtown should be particularly relevant.
In addition to Vice-Mayor Hamilton, we will have Dave Guerrieri (Biker Dave) will do a demo www.Upcoming.org . That is one of two sites that Dave thinks are very applicable to improving citizen/stakeholder participation in City planning. The other is WebStorm. Dave indicated that he is also working with the WebStorm vendor, www.BrightIdea.com , to arrange a demo for Nathan Truitt and Patricia Lord, and anyone else folks think would be appropriate.
The July 21, 2008 meeting will be at the Las Palmas Park building which is on the Russet side of the park, which is reachable from and east of Hollenbeck. The meeting will start with a 20 minute social and networking time at 7:00 pm and refreshments will be available at 6:45 pm.
