You’ve heard of Mud Races and Obstacle Courses. Maybe you’ve even participated in a few… But have you ever experienced Harvest Games? French Prairie Gardens is excited to be hosting their 2nd annual Oregon Craft Brews & Harvest Games during their kick off weekend of Swines, Steins & a Race to the Finish Line, September 24th and 25th 2pm to 4pm. Oregon Craft Brewers Widmer Brothers Brewery and Ninkasi Brewing Company will be filling your steins while teams from the community will be competing to show their commitment by racing the Harvest Games course to win money for their favorite charity. This year’s adventuresome course starts with racing up a 40’ hay pyramid then sliding down a 40’ hay slide that has launched many a farmer into the air. Then on to an obstacle course that only farmers know how to do up right. Finish off the race by showing what you are made of with a hay bale toss. Be sure to come early and spy out your favorite team. Not only do the teams win $1000 for their favorite charity for finishing the course first, but they could win $150 for best costumes and $250 for having the best (and yes, the most enthusiastic) fans.
Don’t miss out on the other family fun activities happening at French Prairie Gardens & Family Farm that weekend and the five following weekends. The Harvest Festival is happening September 24th through October 30th with You-Pick-Pumpkin Patches, hay rides, a two acre corn maze, 40-ft hay slide, obstacle course, kids hay maze, kids coral and toddler play area, a farm animal display featuring two of their stars, Big Babe a 1600-lb steer and Dolly the Llama, and much, much more. You won’t want to miss one of the main attractions, the Pigtucky Derby Pig Races hosted once again by Farmer John and Farmer Eric.
Come early and stay late, the activities run all day. Raising funds for charities has never been so fun!
