Beriozoff, after Petipa, Ivanov, and Gorsky / Tchaikovsky -
For many, Swan Lake defines the very art of ballet: the lush Tchaikovsky score, the moonlit images of impossible grace, the story of magic, mystery, and transformation. In the tradition of ballet passed down from choreographer to dancer, generation to generation, Richmond Ballet's production of Swan Lake shares lineage with the definitive 1895 staging by the legendary Marius Petipa. This production was set on the company by Nicholas "Papa" Beriozoff, who learned this version directly from a student of Petipa.
Swan Lake is performed in the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage.
This performance will run approximately two and a half hours.
