During this interactive presentation, Dane will share his experiences from both startups, as well his time working for two of the leading technology companies. Dane will also go through his "Big Five" lessons learned - which will no doubt help you as you grow your career and follow similar paths of success. Dane Glasgow has been working as a PM or leading PM teams for most of his career. Dane joined his first startup when he was a senior in high school, and helped launch his second, Jump.com, while a student at Cornell. Jump was acquired by Microsoft, and he spent the next eight years working on a variety of exciting consumer software -- from MSN Calendar to Hotmail, to launching Windows Desktop Search, to Live.com, to web search. After Microsoft, Dane cofounded a new company doing machine learning and data mining in the finance sector, which was acquired by eBay. Dane has worked in Engineering and Product Management at eBay. Most recently, he has been focused on transforming the product management discipline while improving the eBay customer experience in his role as VP, Global Product Management..
About The Speaker:
Dane Glasgow serves as vice president, global product management for eBay Marketplaces, and brings more than 15 years of experience leading product design and development, innovation in search technology, and management to the world's largest online marketplace. In his role, Dane focuses on delivering a compelling shopping experience globally for both buyers and sellers from eBay's homepage and search experience, to tailored verticals in the Fashion and Electronics categories, to an end-to-end selling experience. Dane Attended Cornell University, where he studied computer science, business, and fine art. Outside of the office, he enjoys photography, computer graphics, amateur high altitude ballooning/rocketry, robotics, helping educational and scientific-based charities, and driving fast cars. Dane serves on the board of trustees for the SETI Institute, a non-profit scientific organization whose mission is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature, and prevalence of life in the universe.
