Highland Capital Partners
Since 1988, we have taken a sector focused and stage diversified approach to investing in exceptional companies. We invest in seed, early and growth stage companies in the information technology, communications and healthcare markets. Highland is almost always the first institutional investor in the companies we back.
Our investment team has over a century of combined experience in venture capital. We know that great companies are not built in a day; a long term focus on core strengths is the key to building a successful enterprise. We take an active lead role in the companies we back and serve on the boards of directors of over 90% of our portfolio companies. However, we contribute well beyond board participation and continually seek and deliver competitive advantage to the teams that we back.
Our institutional capital comes from an experienced and committed group of major universities, foundations, pensions, financial institutions and families. In addition to their principal role as investors in the funds, many of Highland's limited partners are in a position to provide important business relationships to our portfolio companies. They are seasoned, long-term investors and this experience allows them to play a constructive role in building and maintaining value in your company - even after an initial public offering
Corey Mulloy
Based in Highland's Menlo Park office, Corey's areas of focus include medical technology, software, services and healthcare companies. In addition, he works across the entire Highland investment team to evaluate cross-sector investment opportunities. Corey serves on the boards of AccentCare, Archemix, BAROnova, Fidelis and Whole Body and has been involved with Conor Medsystems (Nasdaq: CONR), Helicos, NuGenesis Technologies (acquired by Waters Corporation), Pervasis, Radiant and US Labs (acquired by LabCorp).
Prior to rejoining Highland in 2001, Corey worked in corporate development with ONI Systems, an optical networking equipment vendor, which went public in 2000 and was subsequently acquired by CIENA. Corey joined Highland in June 1997 and spent two years as a Senior Associate before attending business school. Prior to Highland, he worked at Robertson Stephens & Company in the investment banking group and as an assistant to the CEO of The Whitman Group, a start-up services company.
