Suzanne Lewis: Dune Shack Summer
Upstairs at Wally Workman Gallery
July 2 - 31
Opening Reception Thursday, July 2nd 6-8pm
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Nestled among the dunes and scattered across three miles of the Cape Cod National Seashore stand about 17 weather-beaten dune shacks. Many were built in the 1920's and 40's when Provincetown was becoming an art colony. The shacks have no electricity, no running water and are not easily accessible. The Atlantic with miles of deserted pristine beaches is about 100 yards away. Through the years, writers and artists have called the shacks home for months, even years-- Jack Kerouac, e.e. cummings, Mary Oliver, Eugene O'Neill, Annie Dillard, Jackson Pollock and Willem deKoonig to name a few.
