Teaching Sustainability & Future Energy
Through a Magic Show
Environmental issues and sustainable lifestyles don't have to be boring.
Solar Power Roadshow provides kids,
from 6 to 60, with hands-on devices
at an indoor show, workshop,
or outdoor festival,
in a entertainment format.
We're all going to have fun
with this!
At a previous show at Science World in Vancouver, Solar Power Road Show used a 20-minute magic show (every hour) to demonstrate Future Energy and Transportation in a fun, fun, fun format at Telus World of Science, Vancouver's Science World. These hourly magic shows were part of the electric bike show. This ebike show made the front page of the Vancouver Sun Westcoast section, too!
These were some of
the topics covered...
- Hydrogen electrolysis for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
Water and oxygen balls are mixed together by two kids. Then, they are magically separated after an electric current is applied
- Rising cost of petroleum-based fuels.
- It is a difficulat job for the 'Minister of the Environment' (a kid) to clean the environment by himself. We all need to help out, with non-polluting vehicles
Everybody is given a small piece of paper (representing pollutants) and everybody tries to tear up the paper, but they (magically) cannot!
- Over 3 million people die every year from air pollution
The number "3" mysteriously appears on a clear block of plastic, whenever any kid is able to guess the right answer to a question.
- We can cut our energy bills with conservation and better insulation of our homes
Kids cut up and punched a hole in a gasoline receipt and paper money. Then Rob of the Solar Powered Roadshow restored the paper money, and removed the hole.
