Sustainable Choices is a traveling exhibit developed by NRG! Exhibits of Kirkland, Washington. It engages visitors in the topic of sustainability through everyday objects, activities, and technology showing wise choices people can make everyday to live sustainably.Sustainability, in this context, refers to how long human ecological systems can be expected to be usefully productive. From a practical standpoint, this entails meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The exhibit focuses on sustainability at the individual and family level. How we generate electricity is important, but most people cant act on that every day. We can, however, choose daily the kind of bags well use for groceries and how to wash our clothes. The exhibit clarifies some of these simple choices in seven larger than life modules. Without preaching, it presents the facts from authoritative sources.Visitors will find that in some cases, there are no clearly correct choices to make. All of the available choices include environmental trade-offs. The exhibit will help visitors make those informed decisions through interactive elements, graphics, and text.
