While shipping products or services at a profit is the eternal core of commerce, entrepreneurs in the 21st century face the added imperative of conducting commerce sustainability.

Co-produced with Clean Tech Open, this event provides a unique opportunity to interact with start-up executives who have made green by going green, and a national thought-leader on sustainability in commerce.

October's Bijou ventures into the land of original material, singer/songwriters, cafe guitarists and clever rhyme-scheming. With a stellar line-up of local indy songwriters, our October Bijou features:

- BRENDAN GETZELL, host of Hotel Utah's Monday night open mic series. Mr. Getzell is a popular singer/songwriter of the coffee house circuit and has also been a theatrical entertainer in local productions and in cabaret. Most recently, Mr. Getzell appeared with Carly Ozard at the Rrazz Room in "Somebody to Love," a tribute to Freddie Mercury. Mr. Getzell has also performed at El Rio, Red Rock Cafe, Brainwash, Beckett's, Bazaar Cafe, Duboce Park Cafe and Martuni's.

- STORM FLOREZ, an award-winning performer originally from New Mexico. Mr. Florez moved to San Francisco in 1996 and immediate recorded his first album, "Standing Between the Day and Night." Most recently, Storm released his newest CD, "Lost Lost Sun." Storm has toured the Pacific Northwest extensively and earlier in the decade played the notorious CBGB Lounge. This marks Mr. Florez's fifth appearance at Martuni's.

- DAVE GURSOM, a singer, songwriter, guitarist AND bassist, Dave is most known for his performances in the East Bay (the Beanery, Chester's), but is also a regular in SF at Kimo's and Hotel Utah. This is Mr. Gursom's first performance at Martuni's.

- MEGAN KEELY, singer, songwriter, guitarist and ukulele player. Not unlike Mr. Florez, Ms. Keely tours extensively, with stops in Seattle (Sweet Lou's) and Chicago (Uncommon Ground). Her Acorn Tour took her from Ashland, Oregon to Cambridge, Massachusetts and all points in-between. This will be Ms. Keely's third appearance at Martuni's in less than 2 years.

- J WHITE, songwriter and ukulele player. A most interesting figure in the music circuit, Mr. White is an accomplished ukulele-ist who rarely performs in clubs. Known best for the velocity of his string picking as well as his hypnotic melodies, Mr. White mixes old-school vaudeville techniques with modern day and new-age songwriting. Mr. White has appeared at numerous Bijou events.

All hosted by Mrs. Trauma Flintstone, creator of Bijou, the eclectic variety show now in its 6th year. With Mr. Bill as your Door Gent. $5, strong drinks and a heapin' helpin' of original material ... what more could you want?
