Discovery Green offers Sundays in the Park (presented by Four Seasons Hotel Houston), every Sunday afternoon from 3pm-5pm. At the Anheuser-Busch Stage or Transier Bandstand, depending on weather.
Afternoon concerts and park features to entertain children of all ages make for an idyllic Sunday in the Park.
On April 19th, a fanciful fair of animals will come to life when the Houston Pride Band performs Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals” during their second annual FREE children’s concert. Additionally, Ernie Manouse (of the award-winning PBS television series “InnerVIEWS with Ernie Manouse”) will provide guest narration for “Carnival of the Animals” as well as the band’s performance of the ever-popular symphony for children, “Peter and the Wolf.”
This FREE concert will provide children and adults of all ages with a fun and whimsical introduction to the fascinating world of concert music.
Various activities are also planned before and after the concert such as an instrument “petting zoo” where children will have the opportunity to meet the Houston Pride Band musicians.
The concert will be held at Discovery Green Park in downtown Houston on the Anheuser-Busch stage on Sunday, April 19th, 2009, at 3:00 PM.
For out-of-town guests, a block of rooms at special discounted rates has been reserved at the Hilton Americas next to Discovery Green for the weekend of the concert.
