Atlanta - Outdoor Club South
Imagine gliding along on your bike through the north Georgia countryside, crossing a 500-foot-long trestle over a rushing river below, winding between rock cliffs and weaving among tall stately pines. Imagine doing this without having to worry about cars and trucks. That's the Silver Comet Trail! We'll break into two groups (leisurely and fast) if needed to match everyone's pace. We'll ride for 1 hour out and then ride back. We will meet at The Silver Comet Trail - at mile zero. The Mavell Road Trailhead is the start of the Silver Comet Trail, at mile marker 0. It has nice restrooms, paved parking, picnic tables and water. http://www.silvercometga.com/silver-comet-cobb-county/silver-comet-mavell-map.shtml I sometimes park at Nickajack Elementary school off of Cooper Lake. If you need rentals contact either Smyrna bicycles www.smyrnabicycles.com or the Bike Depot http://silvercometdepot.com/, both are just a few blocks away. Be sure to bring with you drinks and your helmet. No official carpool for this event but feel free to leave a comment to arrange carpools from in town. Roll out time is 1:30 PM sharp! Look for the group by the benches in the shade.
