In January 2012, Band On The Wall's Picturehouse Bar began hosting a fortnightly free acoustic night, showcasing the goldmine of unsigned musical talent in Manchester and the surrounding area. One year on, The Sunday Sessions has grown into one of the most well-established and well-respected nights on the Manchester acoustic scene.
With free open mic slots from 6.30pm and fantastic headline acts from 9pm, players and appreciators alike are guaranteed the best possible musical end to the week.
Independent in every sense of the word, Ghost Trains are currently riding a wave of creativity having just released their 4th studio album, 'Jack And Sunshine', to great critical acclaim. Front man and song-writer Tim Ellis’s lyrics are thoughtful, his delivery direct yet subtle, and the acoustic guitar melodies are executed so masterfully that they are truly worthy of getting lost within.
Brazilian, Pelotas-born guitarist and vocalist, Luciano Gerber is renowned for his cosmopolitan fusion of Brazilian musics - a blend of folk, bossa nova, milonga and samba, with flavourings of Arabic Music and Flamenco. In the past 8 years, he has appeared with some of Manchester's greatest musicians and at top venues including Manchester Jazz Festival, Matt and Phred's, Contact Theatre, Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Exchange.
Bright, airy and uplifting, Luciano exudes a natural radiance and Brazilian sunshine - perfectly at home in the limelight while warming audiences with a impressive vocal ability and a versatile strumming over a wide range of rhythms and feels. A real joy to behold!
