Tim is preparing for a performance in the Dance Lab on 10 February where he will be gathering together new work.
In this workshop Tim will be sharing his practice which involves working with the body – all of it: physicality, psychological landscape, spatiality – as a connective tissue between our inner world of reflection and invention; and the outer world - the place where we find ourselves, where movement pursues and reflects a dialogue of exploration. Using exercises to focus and prepare, the workshop will develop to establish solo dances that can also inform duo and group work.
Tim’s voice as an artist is distinct, full of individual observation and reflection. His qualities of devising thought-provoking and engaging work are timeless. During his long career he has made and toured solo and company work nationally and internationally; has led challenging and ground-breaking projects in mental health, prisons, with learning disability, alongside large-scale community performances; and more recently with Miranda Tufnell as Body Stories. Tim is also in an emerging relationship with performing artists in South Africa. All have informed and inspired a great inventiveness, and a real, tangible sense of humanity.
“I am currently walking a tightrope between pursuing a heightened state of improvisation – where the body and its perception are the dance – and exploring a relationship with an awareness of the narratives that emerge”.
Sunday Series workshops are £20 or free to Dance Connect members and take place at Dance City.
