“The art of making art is putting it together bit by bit… piece by piece.”
Recently revived in London and on Broadway, this moving study of the enigmatic painter Georges Seurat won a 1984 Pulitzer Prize for its deeply insightful examination of how art is created. The story is resolved a century later as Seurat’s great-grandson, a struggling contemporary artist, learns a lesson about the meaning of his work.
