SUMUNAR Indonesian Music and Dance Concert June 6, 2007

FREE music and dance concert featuring the Indonesian Performing Arts Association's SUMUNAR GAMELAN and DANCE ENSEMBLE and Youth Ensemble.

The COMO PAVILION is the perfect place to enjoy gamelan in its native environment-outdoors! The program will include gamelan pieces recently recorded for Sumunar's forthcoming CD; several were composed by director Joko Sutrisno. Dances will include the traditional court dance Gambiranom and choreographies by dance director Tri Sutrisno. A GAMELAN is an Indonesian percussion orchestra that includes gongs of various sizes, metal-barred instruments, drums, xylophones, and flutes-the sound is beautiful. Traditional Indonesian dance is flowing and graceful, with colorful costumes.
