Summer Dance Workshop
Matt Walsh, a professionally trained dancer and veteran choreographer, is offering a unique dance workshop called the “Summer Dance Intensive.” It is open to students age 10 and up who are interested in learning all forms of dance with a focus on jazz and musical theatre styles. Walsh also has an extensive background in tap, ballet and African dance and welcomes dancers with similar interest.
Walsh has been very active in Inland Empire theatre, working with the Redlands Bowl and Junior University. Additionally, he choreographed The Wizard of Oz at the LifeHouse Theatre, and showcased his talents in Yucaipa with the shows Grease, Annie and Man of La Mancha. He was the choreographer Cope Middle School and worked with the Redlands High School’s Vocal Music Department.
Currently Walsh is studying Stage Management and Technical Theatre at Shenandoah University.
The Summer Dance Intensive is designed to introduce novice dancers to various methods and for more advanced dancers who are interested honing their existing skills.
Walsh invites all those who are interested in trying something new to sign up for the class. He said, “This will be an fun experience you won’t forget!”
The class, priced at $75 per student, will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 pm to 4 pm, July 2 – July 25. There will be a showcase performance on Saturday, July 27. Classes and the final performance will be held at the Yucaipa Little Theatre at 12135 California Street.
