Sumi-E: the Breath of the Brush November 6, 2010

Come explore Sumi-e as a freeing Zen exercise. Artist Roberta Silbert, a graduate of The Sorbonne, L'ecole des Beaux Arts and NYU, uses playful, gestural bamboo brushes creating thick and thin Sumi-e strokes that emphasize line, shading and emotion. - - The Four Gentlemen - Bamboo, Wild Orchid, Chrysanthemum, and Plum Blossom and Dragon Bark, are used as jumping off ideas for conventional and abstract watercolors. Inspirations will be from Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary. Roberta supplies delicious papers, watercolors and mats and frames for a take-home painting. Registration is required.
