In the highly challenging world of Djs and producers, the name Sultan is one that has made its mark and is here to stay. Launching his international career in 2003 with the release of four of his original productions on “Global Underground 25, Toronto mixed by Deep Dish”, Sultan has continued to impress not only as a producer but also as a DJ. With releases and features on world renown labels and compilations including Yoshitoshi, Shinichi, Bedrock, Tiesto’s “In Search of Sunrise 4”, Paul Oakenfold’s Creamfields, Dave Seaman’s “Renaissance Masters”, Deep Dish’s “George Is On”, Sharam’s “Global Underground 29: Dubai” and Armin Van Buuren’s ASOT amongst may others, Sultan continues to evolve and set musical trends in the dance scene today.
Signing on to Bullitt Bookings in the winter of 2006, Sultan has proven that production is just one half of the talent that he is. Having toured the world, playing the world’s best clubs including Space (Miami), Pacha (Ibiza), Ministry of Sound (London) and Warung Beach (Brazil) while maintaining a residency at Stereo (Montreal), Sultan released his debut worldwide compilation “Yoshitoshi Montreal” in 2007, which made its way to number 4 on the Itunes Top 10 Dance Album Charts.
Pressing forward, Sultan launched his monthly radio show “Connected Live” in 2007 which has featured special guests including Sharam, Dubfire, Nic Fanciulli, Danny Howells, Desyn Masiello to name a few, and is currently one of the most listened shows syndicated to over 20 internet and FM radio stations.
Continuing on his reign of successful underground and mainstream releases including “Deep Dish vs Dire Straits – Flashing for Money” (Sultan Club/Radio Mix), hailed as being the worlds first ever legally cleared mash up/remix garnering praise from the electronic dance scene as well as rock legends Dire Straits and Sting, Sultan embarks upon 2008 with even bigger projects and releases that are sure to turn heads on dance floors this summer. With the highly anticipated release of his remake of Olivia Newton John’s classic 80s hit “Lets get physical”, which made its way to number 19 on coolcutz charts and is on rotation on FM and Satellite radio worldwide, Sultan has also worked closely with Nadia Ali (formerly of IIO) writing and producing four songs on her forthcoming album, as well as touring with Nadia playing guitars for her live show
To top it all off, Sultan has also recently launched his own record label, Harem Records, with production partner Ned Shepard. Already having released 3 consecutive releases, which have all made their way to the top ten progressive chart on beatport, Harem hails to be a record label that Is sure to stand out amongst the leaders in today’s digital scene.
With summer a few months away, you can catch Sultan on tour in North America, South America and Europe. Also keep an eye out for future releases from Sultan including “Jeopardy” on Shinichi which was a smash hit at the WMC this year, Sultan & Ned Shepard’s Remix of Julie Dennis’s cover of the classic “Fever” by Peggy Lee on Harem Records, “Did We” on Paul Van Dyk’s Label “Vandit” and Sultan & Ned Shepard’s Remix of Nadia Ali’s “Crash and Burn” already heavily supported by David Guetta and Armin Van Buuren.
