Submerge celebrates its 50th issue and second anniversary with a party at Marilyn’s on K!
Looking to stave off the post-holiday doldrums for at least one more weekend? Submerge is excited to host its 50th issue release party at Marilyn’s on K on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010. The party will also mark the Sacramento-based biweekly magazine’s second anniversary.
Submerge is owned and operated by Sacramento residents Melissa Welliver and Jonathan Carabba—both just in their twenties. Submerge brings in-depth coverage of touring and Sacramento bands as well as featuring local artists, fashion designers and comedians. In a short amount of time, and in a difficult time for the print industry, Submerge has managed to grow at a steady rate shining a light on Sacramento’s ample entertainment and nightlife options. The magazine is available for free every other Monday at various locations throughout the region.
The 50th issue release party will feature performances from local hip-hop impresario TAIS and electronica-dub hybrid Challenger (formerly Dub Defender) as well as DJ Mike Diamond, who will keep the party going all night. The party starts at 9 p.m. and will have a $5 cover charge. Drink specials will be available all night.
