Opening Thursday October 16th, 6:30pm at Yaletown Gallery is Structure & Curio. This is a collaborative ensemble show featuring a talented collective of current Artists and Alumni from Emily Carr University. The show explores many bizarre, unusual, interesting, sometimes overlooked examples of Structure within nature, the human body, memories, dreams, etc. Curio (as in decorative curiosities) is also examined through works that range from provocative to colorful, eclectic to thought provoking; each one the invention of a different artist's personality and vision. The ensuing result is a sensory kaleidoscope for the eyes, and mental stimulation for the brain. This sensory stimulation covers a variety of forms, among them painting, sculpture and photographs. The works create a sundry feast providing something for everyone to enjoy, from the seasoned art lover to the neophyte.
Furthermore, this opening is a unique and exciting opportunity to meet the artists firsthand, and discuss their creations and thought process with them. The event and food are free to the public. Space is limited. The show runs until October 31.
Yaletown Gallery is located at 123–1208 Homer Street (at Davie) in downtown Vancouver, and is devoted to bridging the gap between artists and the community and to create opportunities and appreciation for emerging, local artists.
