New Frontiers
Always on Sunday Series

DENVER, CO – Stories on Stage presents “New Frontiers” as part of their Always on Sunday Series. “New Frontiers”will feature stories read by Chip Persons, Jeanne Paulsen and ZZ Moor.. Show times are 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 in the Stage Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Single tickets are $25; tickets for groups of 10 or more are $20 per person and LoDough (scholarship) tickets are also available. The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson, read by Chip Persons

Milk came in bottles, the mailman came by foot and men wore hats; parts of a life in the 1950's that doesn't exist any longer. Affection for the world of his childhood and funny, engaging writing make The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

William McGuire "Bill" Bryson, is a best-selling American author of humorous books on travel, as well as books on theEnglish language and on scientific subjects. He was awarded an honorary OBE for his contribution to literature in 2006 and the James Joyce Award of the Literary and Historical Society of University College Dublin in 2007.

Chip Persons New York stage appearances include Švejk, Andorra, title role in Richard III, Godard: Distant & Right, The Song of Seven Cities, Foodstable, Hamlet, Cold. In Colorado he performed the title role in Richard III at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and earned a Denver Post Ovation Award Nomination for Best Actor for that role. Film & Television credits include Law & Order, Psych (Discovery Channel), Return to Paradise Lost.

Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro, read by Jeanne Paulsen

Sophia Kovalevsky, a Russian mathematician, journeys through 19th-century Europe searching for her place in the world.
Alice Munro is a Canadian short-story writer, winner of the 2009 Man Booker International Prize for her lifetime body of work, three-time winner of Canada's Governor General's Award for fiction, and a perennial contender for the Nobel Prize.
Generally regarded to be one of the world's foremost writers of fiction, her stories focus on the human condition and relationships seen through the lens of daily life.

Jeanne Paulsen’s work includes Broadway’s The Kentucky Cycle and The Crucible. At the Denver Center Theatre Company she performed in The Voysey Inheritance, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Richard III, The Miracle Worker, Doubt,Pride and Prejudice, You Can’t Take It With You, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, All My Sons, Molly Sweeney and Side Man. Jeanne received a 1994 Tony Nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play (The Kentucky Cycle).

Muscle Memory by Katherine Karlin, read by ZZ Moor
In “Muscle Memory,” Katherine Karlin has opened a new and heart-felt world, telling how ordinary people are moving on and trying to recover from the devastation of Katrina.

Katherine Karlin's stories have appeared in One Story, North American Review, ZYZZYVA, Alaska Quarterly Review, L.A. Weekly, and elsewhere. Her work has been selected for the Pushcart Prize and New Stories from the South.
Karlin has written over 60 theater reviews and arts features for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Los Angeles Daily News.

ZZ Moor is currently a student at the National Theatre Conservatory. Her Denver appearances include: For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Nicholas Nickleby and Our Town. Her television credits include NBC’s Trauma, VH1 Soul, KMVT 15, Link TV, National Geographic.

Celebrating their 10th Season, Stories on Stage combines literature with theater to bring short stories to life and features some of America's best actors.
