Maggie Roswell stars in an intimate and fascinating look at Gilda Radner, a very funny, very courageous, much-loved woman and her battle with cancer, written by her dear friend Saturday Night Live writer Alan Zweibel.
Subtitled "Gilda Radner: A Sort of Love Story," this autobiographical play captures the deeply felt relationship between Radner, one of Saturday Night Live's original Not Ready-for-Prime-Time players, and Alan Zweible (performed by Aaron Serotsky).
As a writer for the original Saturday Night Live, Alan Zweibel formed a fast friendship with comedienne Gilda Radner. This simple and sensitive memoir is based on their curious bond, a relationship that was always emotional but never physical. Alternately comic and heartbreaking, the play follows these two overgrown kids as they ride their bumper-car lives.
The title of the play "Bunny Bunny" references Gilda’s childhood ritual to say these two words her father taught her in order to keep the shadows and monsters away. Gilda’s father died when she was young, but she continued to evoke these words at the start of every month.
Maggie Roswell is best known as the voice of characters Maude Flanders, Helen Lovejoy, Ms. Hoover & Lu Ann Van Houten on The Simpsons. She received Emmy and Annie Nominations for her singing and acting portrayal of Sharry Bobbins in The Simpsons send-up of Mary Poppins. Her career also includes Broadway: Sills and Company; International Tour: Once Upon a Mattress; Los Angeles: The House of Blue Leaves and the films Lost in America and Pretty in Pink.
Aaron Serotsky performed on Broadway in August: Osage County and in the 1st National Tour of Titanic. Off-Broadway he was seen in Frankenstein and What Goes Around. Locally Serotsky performed in the Denver Center Theatre Company productions of Visiting Mr. Green, Wit, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Love's Labor's Lost and A Christmas Carol. Television roles include The Beautiful Life with appearances in Law & Order, The Unusuals, Guiding Light and All My Children.
Celebrating their 10th Season, Stories on Stage combines literature with theater to bring short stories to life and features some of America's best actors. After the performance stay and enjoy complimentary cookies and milk.
