DENVER, – Stories on Stage presents “April Fools” Saturday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Denver at Su Teatro @ the Denver Civic Theatre, 721 Santa Fe Drive, Denver. Single tickets are $25 and are available by calling 303-494-0523 or online at www.storiesonstage.org. Student tickets are $15; tickets for groups of 10 or more are $20 per person and LoDough (scholarship) tickets are also available.

The Apple Tree by Trevanian

Trevanian was the pen name of American author Dr. Rodney William Whitaker (12 June 1931-14 Dec 2005). He wrote in a wide variety of genres, achieved best-seller status, and published under several names, of which the best known was Trevanian. From 1972 to 1983, five of his novels sold more than a million copies each. He was described as "the only writer of airport paperbacks to be compared to Zola, Ian Fleming, Poe and Chaucer."
John Rubinstein made his Broadway acting debut in 1972 and received a Theater World Award for creating the title role in the musical Pippin, directed by Bob Fosse. In 1980 he won the Tony, Drama Desk, Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, and Drama-Logue Awards for his portrayal of James Leeds in Mark Medoff'sChildren of a Lesser God, directed by Gordon Davidson. Other Broadway appearances were in Herman Wouk's The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, which earned him a Drama Desk nomination; M. Butterfly and he starred in Getting Away with Murder. In 2005 he received the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Lead Actor in a Play, as well as nominations for both the Outer Critics’ and Drama League Awards, for his portrayal of George Simon in Elmer Rice's Counselor-at-Law. He originated the role of The Wizard in the Los Angeles production of the musical Wicked in 2007, performing the role for 18 months.
Rubinstein's feature films include 21 Grams, Red Dragon, Mercy, Another Stakeout, Someone to Watch Over Me, The Boys from Brazil, Rome and Jewel, Jekyll, Kid Cop, Getting Straight, Zachariah, The Trouble with Girls, and The Car. Since 1965 he has acted in over 200 television films and series episodes. He received an Emmy Award nomination for his portrayal of Jeff Maitland in the series Family, a role he played for five years
Rubinstein has composed, orchestrated, and conducted the musical scores for five feature films, including Jeremiah Johnson and The Candidate, as well as for over 150 television films and episodes.

Patricia Marx is a staff writer for The New Yorker and a former writer for Saturday Night Live. She is the author of several books, including the novel Him Her Him Again The End of Him, which was a finalist for the Thurber Prize for Humor. Marx was the first woman elected to the Harvard Lampoon. She teaches screenwriting at Princeton University.
Ian Frazier is noted for his humorous essays on contemporary life and travel narratives that explore American history and geography—especially his work about the American West. He has been a frequent contributor to The New Yorker. He has written for the Harvard Lampoon and published in Harper’s, The Atlantic Monthly, and other magazines. He has contributed essays for many books, translated a book, written on the crafts of travel writing and journalism, and served as editor for The Best American Essays, 1997.
Allison Watrous is currently co-director-developer of the Denver Center’s new monthly series, Cult Following. Allison has been a teaching artist at the Denver Center Theatre Academy for the past 15 years and is now the Associate Academy Director. After finishing a 20-month run of Girls Only- The Secret Comedy of Women, she performed as Liz in Curious Theatre Company’s Astronomical Sunset. On Denver stages, she performed in John Brown’s Body, (W)hole, and in A Christmas Carol. Regionally Allison has performed at PCPA/Solvang Theatrefest, the California Theatre Center, Hope Summer Repertory, and The Vital Theatre.
The Public Career of Mr. Seymour Harrisburg by John O’Hara

John O’Hara, a gifted yet controversial writer of both novels and short stories, published his first novel Appointment in Samarra in 1934. This novel was a major success along with his second novel Butterfield 8. During World War II, O'Hara became a correspondent in the Pacific. After the war, O'Hara concentrated on becoming a screenwriter. The 1950's and 1960's brought more success to the novelist. He wrote the novels A Rage To Live, From a Terrace, and Ten North Fredrick, (which won O'Hara the National Book Award in 1955).
Jim Hunt has worked in Denver theatre for over forty years, most recently in Becky’s New Car, The Wizard of Oz, Mauritius, A Lie of the Mind, Seascape, The Field, White Christmas, Art, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Bus Stop, and Eurydice. In 2011 he received a Henry Award & Denver Post Ovation Nominations, Lead Actor in a Play (The Field) and received the 2010 Denver Post Ovation Award for Special Achievement (Direction of the Colorado Theatre Guild's Henry Awards) and in 2009 the Denver Post Ovation Award, Supporting Actor in a Drama (Eurydice)
Four Short Crushes by Paul Simms

Paul Simms began his career in television writing for Late Night with David Letterman. Simms later wrote for the HBO program, The Larry Sanders Show. He was the creator and head writer for the NBC sitcom, NewsRadio. More recently, he has directed and produced for the HBO series The Flight of the Conchords. He has also contributed pieces to The New Yorker. Simms graduated from Harvard University, where he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon. He is currently serving as a writer for the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.
Chris Parente hosts Everyday, a weekday show at 10am on FOX with the latest news, celebrity interviews, and entertainment! Prior to Denver, Mr. Parente anchored and hosted on affiliate stations with CBS, NBC, CW and FOX.
Last year, Chris filled in for Regis Philbin and hosted an hour of national television alongside Kelly Ripa and was invited back to the show as feature reporter for their "Ambush Makeovers." He has received two Regional Emmy Awards for in-depth reporting.
Celebrating their 11th Season, Stories on Stage has great actors bring stories to life by combining literature with theater.
