DENVER, – Stories on Stage puts Colorado writers front and center as they present “A Colorado Collection”Saturday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. at The Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder and Sunday, October 23 at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Denver at Su Teatro @ the Denver Civic Theatre, 721 Santa Fe Drive, Denver. It’s November 1880, and the Angel of Death is Having a Bad Day by Joanne Greenberg read by Randy Moore

Joanne Greenberg has authored 12 novels and four collections of short stories. She best known for the bestselling novel, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden written under the pen name of Hannah Green. It was adapted into a 1977 movie and a 2004 play of the same name. Ms. Greenberg is a Colorado resident and a professor of creative writing at the Colorado School of Mines. http://www.mountaintopauthor.com

Randy Moore is now enjoying his 17th season at Denver Center Theatre Company. His credits include: Trip to Bountiful, A Christmas Carol, The Miser, The Winter’s Tale, A Flea in Her Ear. As a 30-year veteran of the Dallas Theater Center acting company Mr. Moore performed as Cyrano, Hamlet, Iago, Sherlock Holmes, and others.

The Color of the Impression by Laura Pritchett read by Kendra Celeste Hughes

Laura Pritchett is the author of the novel, Sky Bridge (winner of the WILLA Literary Award and finalist for the Dublin International Award and the Colorado Book Award) and a collection of short stories, Hell's Bottom, Colorado (winner of the PEN USA award and the Milkweed National Fiction Prize). Ms. Pritchett is editor/co-editor of three books: Home Land: Ranching and a West that Works, Pulse of the River: Colorado Writers Speak for the Endangered Cache la Poudre, and Going Green: True Tales from Gleaners, Scavengers, and Dumpster Divers. She serves as contributing editor to 5280: Denver's Magazine and is a faculty member at Denver’s Lighthouse Writers Workshop. http://www.laurapritchett.com

Kendra Celeste Hughes has been seen in the Denver Center Theater Company productions of Plainsong, A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum, Oedipus Rex, A Christmas Carol, The Merchant of Veniceand Blithe Spirit. Her New York credits include 25 Short Plays About God, The Secretary, Behold! The Fig Leaf Apron, Shot(z) and The AverageAchieversClub. Kendra received a 2008 Denver Post Ovation Award for Best Original Music, Composer/Performer for Billy Hell.

The Final Conversation by Robert Garner McBrearty read by Steven Cole Hughes

Robert Garner McBrearty lives in Louisville, Colorado and has worked as a newspaper columnist, an English teacher, a dishwasher, a mental hospital attendant, a hotdog salesman, an assembly-line worker, and a ski-lift attendant. As a writer he was awarded the 2007 Sherwood Anderson Foundation Fiction Award for stories included in a new collection, Episode. His other writing awards include a Pushcart Prize and fellowships to the MacDowell Colony and the Fine Arts Work Center. http://www.robertgarnermcbrearty.com

Steven Cole Hughes has performed in the Denver Center Theatre Company’s Pride and Prejudice, All My Sons, Measure for Measure, The Misanthrope, Scapin, Blue/Orange, The Three Sisters, The Lonesome West, Tantalus and many others. He has also been on the stage at Creede Repertory Theatre, Arvada Center, Curious Theatre Company and Theatre Aspen along with many Regional Theatres. Steven’s television appearances include Easy Money, Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Steven received a 2008Denver Post Ovation Award for Best New Work for Billy Hell.

Nick Arvin a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop and the author of two books: In the Electric Eden: Stories and Articles of War, a novel which was named one of the Books of Year by Esquire magazine. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Rocky Mountain News and he has been honored with numerous awards including the Colorado Book Award. He lives in Denver, Colorado, where he is on the faculty of the Lighthouse Writers Workshop. http://www.nickarvin.com

Leigh Miller is a talented member of the Denver Center Theater Company. He has been seen in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Richard III, The Miracle Worker, Trip to Bountiful and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Leigh has also performed at the Arvada Center and with Curious Theatre Company and many Regional Theatres.
