Performance 4a is bringing William Yang and Annette Shun Wah’s Stories East and West on January 28 and 29. This unique theatrical experience investigates the poignant Australian cultural history using a variety of media including slide shows of Yang’s photography, performance, storytelling and documents from historical archives.
“Riverside Theatres is excited about having internationally renowned William Yang perform culturally and historically interesting work. Australia has such a diverse heritage and these explorations bring a beautiful mix of ancestral stories from our indigenous people and Asia,” said Director of Riverside Theatres, Robert Love. “The performances are beguiling as they present identifiable stories in the most exquisite fashion”.
Developed by internationally renowned photographer William Yang with writer and broadcaster Annette Shun Wah, six storytellers with ancestral roots in China, Vietnam and Malaysia come together in Performance 4a’s Stories East and West. The storytellers share their histories and explore the relationship they have with their ancestors and their cultural heritage in the present.
