Karlheinz Stockhausen Stimmung (Tuning) for 6 voices
SingCircle
Gregory Rose director
Stimmung, meaning both tuning and atmosphere or mood, was written in the landmark year of 1968 and is perhaps Stockhausen's most well known work. Six close-microphoned voices intone a single, euphonious chord for over an hour, finding ravishing colours and resonances through the manipulation of overtones. Over this chord, the vocalists recite erotic poems and 'magic names' from many cultures.
