Millions of people have read Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, which starts with the book The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. The series, which is about a crusading journalist and a tattooed computer hacker, has been so popular that it has sold 15 million books worldwide, with 25 translations in 40 countries.

The documentary, produced by Laurence Lowenthal, looks into the life and work of Stieg Larsson, who at the age of 50 died from a sudden heart attack before his first novel was even published. The worldwide success of his books is analyzed by Larsson’s close friends and relatives, by his publisher, his journalist colleagues and by various professionals who have worked on the films, including leading actors Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist.
