Steve Kurtz / Dan Belmont Jazz Duo August 15, 2008

The Steve Kurtz Dan Belmont Jazz Duo consists of Steve Kurtz on saxophones and Dan Belmont on piano. These two experienced Valley musicians began working together in the Fall of 2004 , playing in local clubs and performing for private functions. Their repertoire includes classic jazz compositions and Latin and Brazilian jazz. They also play the compositions of lesser-known people like Chucho Valdez of Cuba or Hermeto Pasqual of Northeastern Brazil. This duo keeps the music fresh by experimenting with texture, tempo, rhythm and style: A tune like My Funny Valentine may one time be played as a ballad, another time as an Afro-Cuban funk tune.
