Join the Amistad Center at its Annual Juneteenth Celebration Gala!
Juneteenth is the celebration of African American freedom and achievement. It was originated to commemorate the day that enslaved Africans in Texas received formal notification of their emancipation, June 19, 1865, more than two and a half years after the implementation of the Emancipation Proclamation. The Amistad Center takes this opportunity to also celebrate African American creative contributions and encourage cultural awareness and pride. This is a Black-tie or Afrocentric affair with open cash bar. Guests must be 21 years or older.
Proceeds from the Juneteenth Celebration benefit The Amistad Center’s exhibitions and culture-based education programs, and enable the preservation and development of its collection of 7,000 objects. We are grateful for your support. For tickets and more information go to www.amistadartandculture.org
