Stephanie Schober creates sophisticated, raw-edged, lyrical dance with a rhythm and dynamism that makes it easy to engage with the full individuality of each dancer. Her latest duet, Newly, is inspired by the simple and effective use of patterns in Veljo Tormis’ choral compositions. The dancers follow the same principles in the music to create mesmerising imagery.
London Première
The Visible Men is a dance-game straddling contemporary dance and stand-up comedy, developed from the original idea for New Art Club's 2004 Place Prize piece The Short Still Show.
The creators of This is Modern and The Not Cracker put their collective imagination in a dark room, blow a whistle, pull down their pants, kick over a glass of red wine, force themselves through a series of pyscho-physical jerks and turn on the lights to see the results.
During the festival Tom and Pete will be creating weekly vodcasts, which can be viewed at www.danceumbrella.co.uk
Meet the Artist: Sat 27 October. Free to ticket holders after the performance
