Step Afrika’s intricate kicks, stomps and rhythms mix with spoken word to fill the air with the stepping tradition born at African-American fraternities. The DC based company will partner with friends, old and
new, in an eclectic performance highlighting it’s latest choreographic work. Of special note is the company’s collaboration with Bridgman/Packer Dance of NYC, one of the country’s leading artists in dance/video integration. With an original score composed by electronic music artist Jonathan Matis, the company will move into unexplored territory, placing this traditional African-American art form well into the future. Co-presented with the Washington Performing Arts Society.
