Stella Chiweshe defied the traditional gender roles of her native Zimbabwe by learning to play the mbira, a thumb piano whose ritual connection to the ancestral spirits dates back to the 15th century. More than three decades of international recording and concert performances have earned her the title "Queen of Mbira’. Her solo performances reach to the depths of body and soul.
London-based Zimbabwean a cappella group U’Zambezi Arts perform Gospel songs and traditional music from southern Africa. Expect ecstatic rhythms and wonderful harmonies.
