Steel Magnolias explores the dynamics of life, love, and laughter in a small-town Louisiana beauty parlor where six southern women learn to embrace the future and all of its uncertainties. The drama begins on the morning of Shelby's wedding to Jackson and covers events over the next three years, including Shelby's wish to have a child and the complications that ensue because of her battle with diabetes.
