Startup SIG: PBwiki founders David Weekly, Ramit Sethi, Nathan Schmidt February 4, 2008

At an all-night SuperHappyDevHouse event in May 2005, David Weekly spent 7 hours coding a simple hosted wiki service from concept to production-available. Within 48 hours of launching, PBwiki was adopted by over a thousand groups as news of the service spread on blogs like LifeHacker and BoingBoing. PBwiki is extremely easy to use: its name suggests it's as easy as making a peanut butter sandwich.

Fast-forward 2.5 years and PBwiki:

Runs 300,000 wikis for millions of montly users.
Supports 20,000 businesses, including AT&T, Wal-Mart, and 1/3 of the Fortune 500.
Has 11+ fulltime employees and several part-timers and contractors.
Has received $2.5 million funding from Ron Conway, Seraph Group & Mohr Davidow.

David Weekly, CEO, Founder & Chairman, has been programming since he was five and has coded for MIT, Harvard, Stanford, There.com, atWeb, & Legato. David graduated with a BS in CS from Stanford, where he was a President Scholar and a finalist in the ACM Intl Programming Competition. He likes to throw hacker parties, fly helicopters, ride his motorcycle, & make useful things.

Ramit Sethi, VP of Marketing, leads marketing and usability for PBwiki. He has been the Director of Special Projects at the Stanford Persuasive Technology Lab, and is a consultant on emerging technologies to venture-capital firms in Silicon Valley. His blog, IWillTeachYouToBeRich.com, hosts over 100,000 readers per month. He is also the creator of the classic "You Have Died of Dysentery" T-shirt.

Nathan Schmidt, CTO, joined PBwiki following five years in development and engineering for Telephia, the leader in wireless telephony market research & network performance benchmarking. Prior to Telephia Nathan was a co-founder of Scout Electromedia, which shipped the Modo, a pioneering wireless city guide. A President Scholar, he received a BS in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford.
