Start-up of TransCanada Keystone Pipeline June 29, 2010

TransCanada Pipelines will be holding a ceremony to mark the start-up of its major Keystone Pipeline. Originating at Hardisty, Alberta, the Keystone Pipeline will transport crude oil to US Midwest refineries and depots at Wood River and Patoka, Illinois. In the United States, pipeline and pump station construction involved North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. The US portion of the Keystone Pipeline includes 1,744 kilometres (1,084 miles) of new, 30-inch pipeline and 23 pump stations.
