Born and raised on the mean streets of San Diego, Russell Hicks, AKA Flow Master, started his comedic journey when he was 19, when he stole a microphone from Radio Shack to practice standup comedy at home. He has always been the class clown and attention junky at school which almost always got him in trouble with the gang bangers. Russell Hicks knew he wanted to be a comedian when he talked his way both into and out of fights at school.
He first became interested in comedy in 1992. At the age of 8, his mom and dad bought him a Fisher-Price music player with microphone. Instead of singing, he would make silly faces at everyone and then pee his pants. At the age of 19, after finally graduating high school, he started sneaking into comedy clubs with his older brother. He did various warm up sets before the doors opened in clubs hosting major names such as Bobby Slayton, Jamie Kennedy, Chris Rock and many more. It was after this point when he started getting gigs at big clubs such as The Comedy Palace in San Diego, The Improv and Laugh Factory in Los Angeles.
After receiving several six figure offers from executives at Comedy Central, HBO, SHOWTIME, ABC and NBC, Russell Hicks has decided to wait until his 1980’s jeans jacket goes out of style to take them up on their offers. Although he has surpassed many headliners ability to make people laugh hysterically, he still insists on perfecting his craft. Suffice to say, the comedy scene should be expecting big things from Russell Hicks in 2013.
