Stagewest's Scriptease August 26, 2008

From the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright of Rabbit Hole to be performed by StageWest this winter come three short comedies in the mold of his outrageous Fuddy Meers (performed by StageWest in May, 2002). Baby Food finds an off-kilter couple desperately searching for godparents for their newborn infant. In That Other Person, we find Ginge and Kevin on the night they are going to tell their respective spouses the marriage-shattering secret they’ve been keeping from everyone. But their bomb shell gets put on the back burner when a gorgeous peeping-tom, with secrets of her own, falls in the pool and nearly drowns. In Crazy Eights, Connie comes home one night to find her parole officer waiting in her apartment with a torte and a long list of questions complicated by the after-hours arrival of Connie’s charming card-playing buddy.

StageWest's Scriptease series of monthly free staged readings is reborn at East Village Books. Scriptease is a live performance of a new script each month, performed by the actors with script in hand, but with no set or staging. It's a unique and fun new way to experience a play and to enjoy the actors and dialogue up close! Mark your calendars for the last Tuesday of each month.
