A focal point for the entire student body, the Massey Hall concert is the preeminent fundraising event for the school, with every student from Grade 3 through 12 contributing countless hours to create a world-class evening of entertainment and joyous celebration. A proud tradition, the concert provides much-needed funds that allow the school to uphold its commitment to maintaining the highest quality of choral programming and musical training that is affordable and accessible for all students.
Since 1937, St. Michael’s Choir School has served the Archdiocese of Toronto by educating and training the boys’ choirs that sing every weekend at St. Michael’s Cathedral. The school is unique in offering an enriched academic program integrated with a lively ministry of sacred music. Designed to foster a lifelong interest in music, St. Michael’s is one of only six choir schools in the world affiliated with the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome.
In addition to the ever-popular Massey Hall Christmas concert, the choirs perform publicly in an annual tour and at many local events. Dignitaries such as His Holiness Pope John Paul II, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien have enjoyed the choir’s performances.
