Now that your bike has had its safety check and is ready to go you can practice the rules of the road by participating in the St. Jude Bike-a-Thon sponsored by the Cambridge EMS.
On May 7th as a part of the Bike Rodeo and Touch A Truck event sponsored by CAP and the Dane County Sheriffs Dept. you will have the ability to help others in need. St. Jude is the world?s largest pediatric cancer research center in terms of the number of patients enrolled and successfully treated. Since St. Jude open in 1962, it has treated about 20,000 patients from all 50 states and 60 foreign countries.
Each St. Jude patient must be referred by a physician, have a disease currently under study at the hospital, be eligible for a current research protocol and, generally be 18 years old or younger.
How can you participate: Rider participation forms will be sent home with each student in a packet from the Elementary School. You need to simply pick up a form and collect donations of $5, $10, or more prior to the date of the event. On May 7th bring your pledge form and have all of your cash and checks converted to one check made payable to St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital. A continual route around the school for riding in the bike a thon has been designated and will be supervised from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Great Prizes for Riders: Not only will you feel good about helping others but you have an opportunity to get some great prizes. Anyone turning in a donation of any amount and participating will receive a certificate. If you raise a minimum of $35.00 you will receive a certificate and a T-shirt. Those turning in $75.00 or more will receive their choice of a sports bag and a T-Shirt or sweatshirt along with a participation certificate. The rider raising the most money over $125.00 will receive a super slim portable CD player!
