Li Tiangang is the first Johannean Visiting Scholar to reside at St. John's College. A professor in the Religion Department of Fudan University in Shanghai, Professor Li writes on the history of Sino-Western contact, the Jesuits in China, as well as the modern history of Shanghai. He is also a noted public intellectual who regularly comments on current affairs in China. Tim Brook is the Principal of St. John's College, a historian of China, and a long-time friend.
