The WorldBeat Cultural Center was first to present the new wave of Virgin Island Reggae Artists coming to the U.S. Straight from the mystical island of St.Croix, artists Midnite, Dezarie, and Bambu Station revitalized Roots Reggae. Now, the second wave of St.Croix artists to hit the WorldBeat are Batch, Ras Attitude, and Mada Nile, all backed by the Zioniers band.
Batch is one of St.Croix’s most prolific singers, producers, and musician. He has produced many of the artists coming from this fertile crop of VI Roots Reggae artists.
Ras Attitude’s Raga dee-jay style is energetic and conscious; making his sounds distinctly different from what is coming out of Jamaican Dancehall today. His music is void of slackness and non-homophobic.
Female singer and freestyler, Mada Nile, joined Sound V.I. Zion records in 2001 and by 2004 she had topped the VI charts. Her single, “Send I De Love” was #1 for 3 consecutive weeks on Virigin Islands Radio station Isle 95FM and her debut album “Rise Today” ranks at #3 on IReggae.com top ten albums of 2004.
Sound V.I.Zion St.Croix’s artists, renowned for bringing the Reggae sound back to its One Drop Roots, are the hottest voices in Reggae music today.
