THIS IS A BENEFIT FOR ST MARY'S QUEEN OF APOSTLES- INCLUDES DINNER, SHOW AND SILENT AUCTION
Good Company Players present the uptown musical THE WIZ, more fun than a barrel of flying monkeys in this hip and funny 70s version of
The Wizard of Oz.
All the famous characters are there to do their job in a jivin' style: The Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion are still ready to help Dorothy to find THE WIZ.
Good Company's production, directed by Dan Pessano, makes use of countless visual as well as verbal jokes. Costumer Ginger Lewis and set designer David Pierce have pulled out all the stops to make THE WIZ a memorable journey.
Easing on Down the Road (as in Yellow Brick) are Dorothy, played by Sydney A. Mason, and her faithful Scarecrow (Chente Cervantes), Tin Man (Greg Ruud), and the nervous Lion (Lamont Walker).
They're looking for The Wiz, who turns out to be Christian Harris with a wonderful story to tell about how he wound up in Oz. Dee Smith plays Dorothy's Aunt Em ("The Feeling We Once Had").
The witches in THE WIZ are Evillene ("Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News") played by Levetta Wheeler; the ditzy Addaperle (Tsenia Ellis); and Glinda, who sings one of the show's great ballads, "Believe in Yourself" and is played by Sharon Anderson.
