Sri Lanka Day on Saturday August 23rd 2008 at 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica, CA August 23, 2008

Inaugurated in 2006, the 3rd Annual Sri Lanka Day Expo 2008 will be held on Saturday, August 23rd 2008 on the 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica from 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. Sri Lanka Day fulfills a very fundamental need of the Sri Lankan expatriate community in Southern California providing a time and place for the celebration of Sri Lankan food, culture, arts, crafts, traditions, and businesses.

The Food Court serving Sri Lankan cuisine is one of the main attractions, with the exciting entertainment stage on Wilshire corner, the Beauty Pageant stage on Broadway corner and the colorful parade (Perahera) that commences at Broadway and across to Wilshire along the Promenade just as interesting.

There are more than 40 booths displaying Sri Lankan art and crafts. Many Sri Lankan music groups in Southern California take part in the entertainment festival. For more information visit http://www.slday.com
