Squaretape was founded in 2004 by multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter Kirk Hamilton, along with guitarist Dan Nervo. Thie line up also include Dan Apczynski, Brian Fox and Peter Thomas. After their first rehearsal with Brett "B" Crockett, Heather Pierce, Brian Templeton and Rafael Acevedo, it was obvious to all that the core unit of the band had been found. Mixing Rafael's skilled turntablism, Brian's hypnotic bass lines, B. doubling on guitar/keyboard with the interlocking, soaring vocals of both Heather and B., the vibe was immediate and palpable. Karmacoda's live shows quickly became popular throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, grabbing the attention of local promoters and clubs and a burgeoning fan base.
